No- nothing wrong with the 45ACP- other than it has a weak case head and is way turned down for use in an auto. If I were going to carry a 45ACP in a revolver, I'd use 45Super brass and loads. My point is that if you want a 45 caliber carry piece, I'd either want something small like the little Smith revolver, or if I was going to carry something as large as a Taurus Judge, I'd just carry a 13-round capacity auto pistol.

Chris, you seem to know your guns. Taurus makes a good weapon. I would rather have a Smith, better fit&finish and less likely to get a lemon, though this is not a great concern. If you handload I would rather have a .45 Colt. You can load it to beat the .44 or down to *****cat levels. 44(.429) mag is a great round and you won't be disappointed. I love the .41 mag. also, it gives up nothing to the .44 except ammo price and availibility. To answer your question, you will be happy w/the Taurus .44.

The Judge is 45 long colt not 45 ACP it can be loaded into an ass kicker. Double tap has factory loads for the 45 LC that exceed the balistics of everyone elses 44 mag and you can do more on your own.
I wouldn't want to take a 3" 410 buckshot in the chest, that is 5 .34" pellets at 1200fps. You would have to get the Judge Magnum for 3" though.

I have a raging bull in 454 casull with the 6.5" barrel for deer hunting and I like it for the purpose. It is heavy as hell and kicks like a mule but it shoots good and has a descent trigger. I wish I would have just bought a 44 mag. though. The 454 is a bit much to enjoy.

Trimd up, why don't you just start shooting 45 Colt through it?

Because there is nothing like lighting off a 300 grain plus P .454 round. I have a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 with a 3 power Burris on top and love it. My buddy had a Raging Bull .44 and I liked that gun also.

Before you buy a Raging Bull Check out a Ruger Super Redhawk with a 91/2 barrel. Looks a little more Dirty Harry. Super fun to shoot. If you ever want to hunt you can ad scope rings real easy. Mine makes 6" groups with open sights at 80 yards. I'm sure it could get better but my eyesight is the week link.. Good luck.
The judge is a neat little pc. . Although I like Glocks for my concealled stuff, I thought it was pretty trick that you could shoot 410 shells.....and the way ammo keeps bumping up in price might not be a bad addition.

Don't overlook the .41 magnum. Better ballistics than the .44. I love my .50 and .460 great hunting guns and a blast to shoot. They both make more since than the judge. The judge doesn't intrest me in the least. I am impressed with the ballistics of the 45 gap,but I'm not changing over to the gap from acp. Doesn't make cent$ to change over after reloading acp for decades. You won't regret a .41 mag.
