Ok....So I got eveything hooked up and filled with fluid getting ready to bleed the system..But I have a dumb question...If your standing behind the boat looking forward and you turn the wheel to the right..The drive should go to the right...correct?????

yes, the rear of the drive will swing to the right.

I believe they may be o-ring, but am not sure.

Pipe would be tapered thread o ring would be none tapered.

"o ring" on my charlynn system. I see a lot of these systems have a filter in the high pressure line. The one in mine was too fine of a filter and caused slow and heavy steering and eventually destroyed the pump.

A hydraulic engineer looked at it and said that the filter was not necessary as there is usually a magnet in the Saginaw pump to pick up any metal contaminates. In fact the filter was degrading the performance.

I got an upgraded 1500 psi pump from AGR racing in Fort Worth flushed the system and discarded the HP line filter. I can now turn my steering lock to lock at idle with one finger. These pumps are way cheaper than any "marine" pump and are clear-coated. You do have to transfer the reservoir and the pulley yourself.

Most mercruiser pumps are the metric P type Saginaw pump

AGR specializes in dual ram steering for rock crawlers, basically the same thing we use.

We found a very easy way to flush and bleed the system. Remove the belt and use a 3m pinstripe removal wheel in a cordless drill against the pulley. It turns the pump at just the right speed to flow without aerating the system.

The rubber wheel wont hurt the finish on your pulley. I also believe that the system bled a lot faster due to the absence of that in-line high pressure filter.
