I've got an '03 Wrangler that shakes like all hell (yes worse than the normal Jeep shake) at around 48 to 51ish miles an hour. Before and after that it's fine. I had it aligned and that didn't fix the problem. If you accelerate past 50, it isn't too bad but if you're slowing down to around 50 it really shakes

    any ideas?

Could have thrown a wheel wieght then @ certain speeds you get a resonant frequency shake. Did you have the tires balanced also?

No, I didn't have them balanced. If a weight is thrown would that cause it to shake at a certain speed? I figured (perhaps wrongly) that if it was a weight then it would shake badly at all speeds.

Is it lifted? Had the splines on an aftermarket dropped pitman arm wear out on a buddies Jeep that caused similar issues.

Do you have the specs that it was aligned to?

Are all fifty u-joints good? Are all yokes tight? (Had a yoke nut barely loose on the tranny in my Kodiak and it would shake you out of it) Also on the bigger trucks they put a bag of "shot" in the tires to balance them instead of wheel weights, works good.

    LMAO

Unfortunately it mainly vibrates my back on the seat, my hands/forearms and rattles my teeth. If it vibrated anything useful I'd probably drive @ 50 a lot more often

Ok - back to useful. No, it isn't lifted but it does have 30x10 tires on it. I'll get the weights and u-joints checked

Yes, It's called "Death Wobble". First thing, check the "track bar" and make sure it's tight. Make sure the "allignment" is correct. If it is lifted, make sure the "caster" is set to the "minumal factory setting". Set the "toe-in" to maximum. Get a good "steering stabilizer", this will only "band-aid" it but it helps. Trust me, I know !!!! Dave

balancing or a bad belt in the tire most likely, did she get new tires since i was there a few months ago? when I looked at the tires they looked cupped, that would cause it for sure...

That was when we took it through the field with all the snow and it shuddered horribly at every speed. Once the snow melted it got back to the normal shudder at just @ 50.

I'll have the weights checked out.
