either one should be able to support 500hp pretty easily. My choice would be the EMI's but its a margin call, i think both are pretty good products.

Use the Gils. I have sold about 100 sets of the EMI's over the years and had more problems than I care to remember.

If your exhaust holes in the transom are for a standard Bravo template, then go with CMI Unitops. About the same price as a good manifold/riser exhaust.

I think they stopped building the Unitops. I may be wrong, but I thought that was the case.

thanks guys, the reason I posted was because I already have GILs on my motor but have a chance to put on the EMIs or leave the GILs. Sounds like i should leave the GILs

I don't know for sure, they may have, but they are still listed on the CMI website. They were a great option at a lower price than ETops and tails.

your gils are better but, stainless marine last for ever, it seems like theres a lot of CMI headers used that need work done. I talked to a few guys about the big e top and they all pissing water need to be welded then I figure I will be chasing it even a good buddy of mine had to have his etops weld last season he told me after 4 years chit I got twice that on my sm gen 2s but with a 1000hp those will cost power and the reg etop will to it sucks that you can send 6 to 7 grand and after a few seasons they need work and you hope you don't blower a $40,000 motor. so I looking for new sm gen 3s 5'' they aren't pretty but for half the cost of ss headers and its proven the gen 3 5'' work just as good on big blowers I am there I give up on used.
