It's pretty easy to lose a left hand propeller. Probably happens more often then reported.
Reason is new gearcases with large propshafts do not have a mechanical lock like a lock tab that's bent over on the prop nut.

Prop nuts need to be checked and tightened frequently. Props may not stay tight all season. Lefts can fall off.
New polylock nut kits with washers every season is my suggestion.
