    After that same boat went over in Key West, and was completely rebuilt as the safest Doug Wright cockpit ever, you would think they would have at least used safe windows. The windows should never blow out, let alone completely disintegrate on impact at a slow speed like they were going. That piece of window that stuck in the bulkhead like a ninja throwing star could have killed one of the guys. There is a reason that Skater uses 3/4" polycarbonate versus 1/2" acrylic. Even at equal thickness the Poly has 30 times the impact strength of acrylic, then add 50% greater thickness. Build it like these are, just to save weight and cost, and not worry about the people inside!

    We need to start protecting those in the boats as the most important thing, no matter who the manufacturer is. If needed, increase the minimum weight and start enforcing the standards for canopies that are in every rule book.
