In 2015, the Lake Havasu Boat Show attracted over 9,000 visitors, in excess of 120 exhibitors and more than $50 million in boats (over sixty different brands of new and used boats) and marine accessories including fishing boats, pontoons, family runabouts, wakeboard/ski boats, personal watercrafts, and the hottest high performance sportboats the country has to offer. 110 vendors giving crowds what they want at annual Havasu Boat Show
    By JACKIE LEATHERMAN Today’s News-Herald

The annual boat show aimed to highlight boats, off-road motorsports and summer products wraps up today at Windsor Beach at Lake Havasu State Park at 699 London Bridge Road.

The 25th annual Lake Havasu Marine Association show features around 110 vendors, including an expanded presence from Phoenix and Southern California, according to Bob Brown, the event’s organizer.

“We’re pretty much filled as much as we can be,” he said of the vendor space, adding that current plans are to move the event to the new launch ramp and parking area within the park for 2017. The move would allow in-water boat demonstrations, Brown said.

“That changes the show a lot,” he said.

Today the show is geared toward “Family Fun Day” to allow free admission to students who wear their school shirts and are accompanied by an adult. The event features games and carnival rides. All of today’s proceeds will benefit the Lake Havasu High School Athletic Booster Club.

Some of the highlights at this year’s event includes the new Mercury 400r Verado, 400-horsepower engine that redlines at 7,000 revolutions per minute, and a new 28-foot Cobra Python sport deck boat.

Brown said he hoped the expected rainfall doesn’t “come down in buckets” to keep the event cool and going.

Dustin Wollery, a salesman with Horizon Motorsport at 1515 Industrial Ave., said the motorsports company enjoys being a vendor in the annual event.

“It’s pretty great, other than the weather,” he said.

Eve and Wes Ronning said it was their first time to the event.

“I think it’s fabulous,” Eva said. “These are the kinds of boats we want to know about. If we go to a boat show in Miami, all you see is yachts.”

Sunday’s rain keeps visitors from flocking to Boat Show
    By BRANDON MESSICK Today’s News-Herald

Sunday rains kept Havasu boating enthusiasts at bay during the 25th Annual Lake Havasu Boat Show.

The boat show featured more than 110 vendors at Windsor Beach, and drew large crowds on Friday and Saturday. The event is billed as the largest boat show in Arizona and Nevada, featuring more than 60 brands of watercraft and a large selection of marine accessory products for sale.

“We did really well Saturday,” said Havasu Marine Association President Jim Salscheider. “We drew record crowds, and it made up for a slow Friday and a complete washout on Sunday.”

This is the first time in Salscheider’s eight years with the Boat Show that the event has seen this kind of rain. According to the National Weather Service, Havasu saw about 0.6 inches of rain throughout the weekend, with the majority of that coming in the form of heavy showers yesterday.

“A lot of the vendors left early,” Salscheider said. “We didn’t have much public attendance at all, and some of the vendors didn’t even come because it was raining so hard. We still had a lot of exhibitions, and people could still come down – but there wasn’t anyone to talk to.”

Despite the lack of Sunday crowds, Salscheider said that vendors were pleased with the weekend’s events.
