LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Powerboating excitement returns to the Lake of the Ozarks this week, with Lake Race 2016.

The annual race brings the roar of powerboat racing to the Lake as competitors race around a four-mile course that begins at Bagnell Dam. Crowds watch from the water along the race course, or by land from Wilmore Lodge or Beavers at the Dam.

The races are sanctioned by the Offshore Powerboat Association and the major sponsor is the Performance Boat Center. The Race Headquarters is Beavers at the Dam.

Lake Race Schedule:

•Friday, June 3, 4 p.m. - Street Meet and Greet, on the Bagnell Dam Strip. Racing boats will be on display. Visitors can meet the race teams, take pictures and enjoy the many shops and restaurants up and down the Strip.
•Saturday, June 4, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. - Race Day. The four-mile race course stretches from Bagnell Dam up to the 4 Mile Marker. This area will also be a No Wake Zone beginning at 9:30 a.m. Boaters will find assistance getting anchors set with the help of Anchor Management. 20 Safety Boats, along with the Water Patrol and possible Coast Guard will also be around the course area to ensure safety. The No Wake Zone will continue through all racing and extend for one hour following the end of the race.
•Saturday, June 4, 7 p.m. - Awards Ceremony at Beavers at the Dam. There will be an after party at Beavers at the Dam Restaurant featuring fireworks and live music by Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs.
•Sunday, June 5, 9 a.m. - Lake Race 5K Run/Walk. The race starts and ends at Beavers at the Dam, with a cash bar and raffle available afterwards
•Sunday, June 5, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. - Props & Hoses Fun Run. Begins at Beavers at the Dam, and ends with a 50/50 raffle at Redhead Lakeside Grill

Pleasure Boat Class Fun Run Locations: All of the above plus Backwater Jack's, Topsider, Dog Days, Papa Chubby's, Paradise, Shady Gator's, Camden on the Lake

The Ozarks CW-Springfield, part of the KY3 family of stations, and My Zou, part of the KMIZ Columbia/Jefferson City family of television stations are scheduled to carry all hours of racing from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Co-Mo Connect will again be offering the race coverage to its customers around the Lake and up through the St. Joseph market. 38 THE SPOT joins CW11 KPLR in St. Louis and will air the last two hours of racing: 3-5 p.m. YouTube will also be available for mobile viewing.
