    Is that all?

During Saturday’s third round of The Sentry in Hawaii, Homa staked his claim to being the Tour’s biggest bopper, smoking a tape-measure drive at the par-4 525-yard seventh hole at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course that measured an eye-popping 477 yards. It is the longest recorded drive on the Tour in the ShotLink Era (since 2003).

He is about a 305 yard driver.
If you add a 119mph swing speed to a strong following wind and a steep downslope fairway, WITH rollout, I get it.
Have him hit one from the green to the tee and average it.

I finally have my swing speed above 90, which is about the same as an athletic retired woman.

There is so much slope at the Plantation course that if you walk 18 holes, you have climbed the Eiffel Tower twice. Using the slope strategically is key to offsetting the wind. The course has "speed slots." Hit them and get things like a 477 yard total rollout.

I'm still more impressed by Tom Watson's second shot off the deck with a 1977 era driver in the Open, while being beat by Jack. A sweet spot the size of a pea. The maximum pressure. Perfectly executed to drop a stroke. The only man to ever make Jack nervous, and the only man besides Trevino that Jack didn't scare.

Tom Watson’s family has owned a house on Walloon Lake for years. Back in the eighties I hung out at Harrington Marina on the weekends. I would go on service calls for entertainment. I got to meet Tom’s Dad. Hopefully Tom is nicer. Was not impressed with him. He came off as a real jerk.

That's interesting. I never met either, Ohio is represented by Jack. We don't need any other golfers.
Walloon Lake is a long way from Kansas City, Ray Watson's lifelong home. He was an amateur club champ in KC and introduced Tom to the game in the 50s. Guess it was a second home.

Ray was an insurance agent, and generally seemed well liked. Maybe it was you? (I kid, I kid.)

Tom on the other hand, divorced his wife Linda and married the wife of a different golfer. Then she died, he married a third woman and they were divorced in three months. So Ray may have been nicer than Tom.

Hey, it wasn't Padraig Harrington Marina was it? \

Update: Internet research suggests Tom Watson is a prick and his portrait was taken down from his home club in Kansas City. A golf reporter stopped there, saw it was gone and asked about it and current staff didn't know Tom Watson had been a member. They canceled him.

Tom Watson and his family summered on Walloon Lake when he was growing up. Tom Watson played golf at the Club on a daily basis. He frequently returns to visit the Club.)

My nephew is one of the managers at the Walloon Country Club. In fairness, his Father might have been being a jerk because his boat wasn’t running. But first impressions most of the time gives you a pretty good feel for people.

What is the saying? "stress places us in our natural roles."

They must have spent the summer up there because they could afford to get away from LOTO for the season.

Walloon Lake has had a large following for years. The Hemingway family hung out there. Bo Randle’s family still own some large real estate on the lake. The Randal Knife company was out of Florida. We rented a car to a family from Louisiana that had a home on Walloon for years. Have you ever ate a donut from Dawn Donuts before?

    I don't think I ever had a Dawn Donut.

Neither the pastry nor the euphemism.

Michigan won. Which makes you wonder if cheating was the reason.

It's like watching that big ethanol boat run.

I played 36 or 37 rounds in 2023. Out of dozens of guys I played with, there was only one true cheater. And I only say that because he had the audacity to improve lies all over the course and then card scores low enough to carry a 2HC. If you are a say... 30 HC and you give yourself a stroke once in a while, I have no issue at all. You are still walking off the course with a 105. And you had fun. And you supported my pace of play. It's all good.
    But don't carry a fake 2.

He is a treasury VP at a bank. I hope he is more honest at work.
