(CNS News) – Donald Rumsfeld, who served as U.S. Defense Secretary under President George W. Bush, blames poor diplomacy by the Obama administration for the current strained relations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
“Our relationship with Karzai and with Afghanistan was absolutely first-rate in the Bush administration,” Rumsfeld told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren on Monday. “It has gone down hill like a toboggan ever since the Obama administration came in.”
Rumsfeld pointed to the fact that the Obama administration has failed to get Karzai to sign an agreement that would allow some U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014, when combat ends.
The U.S. has status of forces agreements with more than a hundred countries, Rumsfeld noted. “A trained ape can get a status of forces agreement,” he said. “It does not take a genius. And we have so mismanaged that relationship.”
On Monday, as CNSNews.com reported, Karzai poked another stick at the Obama administration by saying he supports Russia’s takeover of Crimea. That puts him at odds not just with the United States, but also with European and other nations that have contributed troops and tens of billions of dollars in aid to secure and rebuild Afghanistan – and keep Karzai in power – since 2001.
“And what happened is, the United States government — and I realize these are tough jobs, being president or secretary of state. But, by golly, they have trashed Karzai publicly over and over and over — (Richard) Holbrooke, the special envoy did, Vice President Biden did, Secretary Hillary Clinton has. The president has been unpleasant to him.

03-27-2014 07:04 PMIt had to really irk Obama to have to go see the Pope to try to improve his image. Just cause the Pope was the #1 leader in the world of the top 50 and Obama didn't make the list. Fortune Magazine said it was because "he had not displayed rare leadership, leadership in multiple areas, or demonstrated a long history of leading"
His idiot handlers must have come up with this hang on to the Pope's coattails plan.....Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!

04-04-2014 09:21 AMIt's very interesting that the government investigated GM on this switch issue in 2010 and Toyota for the gas pedal issue in 2010 but only made Toyota recall their vehicles, not GM which they owned at the time......

As we keep slipping farther and farther into socialism, we are now the country with the highest per capita incarceration rate, and we among the highest taxes.
Something has gone terribly wrong with life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
No wonder so many people with resources are currently fleeing this country in search of freedom. As each productive citizen leaves, 12 more entitlement cattle are born. Smart people have been breeding at a rate so much lower than idiots for years. We are seeing the consequences.
The idiocracy is here, and the productive are increasingly taxed to fund the lifestyles of the weak and stupid.
