Joker Powerboats/CRC 611 World Championships Recap:

With a second place finish in the first race of the championship weekend on Friday, the Joker Powerboats/CRC 611 team was in excellent position going into Sunday's final race. When the green flag fell, the team of Rich and Pete Smith grabbed second place going into the first turn. Leading the field was the sister Joker Powerboat, Maxed Out, with
the team of Jim Jackson and John Smith. When the 30 mile race off the beaches of Jupiter, Florida was over, Maxed Out emerged the winner of race two. The two teams tied in points and with the tiebreaker the margin of victory, Maxed Out was crowned the 2012 OPA Class 6 World Champions.
The Joker Powerboats/CRC 611 team was second with the Wazzup II team of Nick and Anthony Smith in third.
"The Maxed Out team really had their boat dialed in for the rough conditions," said Pete Smith, team driver.
"We did everything we could to catch them, but we fell short," he added. Team throttleman Rich Smith said
"We broke a trim tab off early in the race which really made the boat handle terrible, but to be perfectly honest, we would not have been able to catch them anyway. They really hit their set up right."
The team wraps up a successful season with a win, two seconds and a third and is already making plans for the coming season.
