How come the revlimiter lights come on when the tachs are at 4900 - 5000 rpm,s.??
In svl ( the same engine) our light comes on at 5400 ,,and the limiter inguages at 5450 !!
    please . i,m asking a serious question ,,

The lights blink slowly when you are at the limiter. And stay red when you are On the Limiter. Perfect is when they blink slowly or occasionally.

The prop must be free wheeling for a fraction of a second as they march across the seas.

I have seen where an engine hit the limiter 220 times for a total of 3 or 4 seconds.

I will take a stab at this. There is a 6000 RPM hot box in the boat. There are no rules on the Bimini run that I know of.

It can hit the limiter and return before your eye or the tach can respond.

He is chewing up the ocean and each time the light comes on the props are seeing air..

Hey guys I just saw this post. The tachometers aren't responsive enough to move with the engines when they hit the limiters briefly when the props are out of the water. We run stock boxes. Rev limiters at 5450 RPM.

Think you should get your facts straight. Bob was DQ'd from SBI because Amsoil Sponsored OPA. Hence the reason why we bailed on NYC. Pheonix Parts and Amsoil have been at it all year.

Check your facts, he was never and still isnt DQ he was asked to do something and he took care of the issue within hrs. Unless you have a document saying different, the one I read was complied with and life went on. It said in the event he didnt comply, he COULD be DQ ?? It had nothing to do with Amsoil Sponsoring OPA but you know that. PPl were being lead to beleive Amsoil was sponsoring the NY race and that wasnt true, that was the only issue . When that was resolved it was all good but you knew that also.

When you say thats why we bailed on NY , who is we you and Bob?

Just for the record was he also DQ from Cocoa, Miami,Sarsota, and Michigan or did he elect not to??? The letter you are taking about was after Mich, and before NY ???
