Thanks to all of the SVL teams that attended the conference call tonight and agreed with these rules being put in place for the 2011 season.

The objective of these rules is to give everyone of you a fair chance to get a checkered flag, without concern for age of hull design.

    Let the best team win!

Any questions, please contact me or Smitty.

5500 pounds in my boat is a joke. I am not going to waste one race to prove it.

Other than that great rules Great step in the right direction

Instead of restricting new technology why not let the older boats modify their hulls? Isn't that moving the class forward?

Yep no details on tech procedures yet (boat on trailer etc) Nitrogen will really help keep the pressures more consistent I hope they don't ban it!

Please send me Mark's phone number so we can discuss the weight rules. He needs to hear what everyone else heard last night.

    Thanks

    Serious Question,

Doesn't 750lbs for an extra step seem like alot? How much did they add to Spiderman when it smoked SV?

I understand, but do you know what they add to Spiderman? Seems llike 750lbs would really effect handling. And I agree 100% with Smitty and the rules, just curious.

Notice the rules state that new boats need to be presented to OPA 60 prior to the first race. If that doesn't happen and new boat with twin steps just shows up at a race site, that's what they'll need to weigh.

However, if a new boat is brought to OPA prior to the race, OPA will test the boat and determine the correct amount of weight that will put the boat in line with everyone else. As for the Activator with twin steps, this testing may prove that it needs a weight advantage over everyone else to be competitive.

This rulebook is all about Parity and not allowing new technology to make the older stuff obsolete.... Similar to NASCAR...no one gets an advantage. This is the essence of spec class racing.

I predict weight will become a point of conflict when a quad step boat is introduced.

I don,t understand why ? the rule says ,,#1 bring thew boat to be run to determined,,
#2 it also reads MULTI STEP ,,I THINK That means steps 2 thru 10 or more,,
