I was talking to someone this weekend who had a reccent USCG safety check. Supposedly the CG told this person that you didnt need flares in you had a SOS flashlight.
Anyone else heard this?

10-02-2010 08:51 AMTake FLARES out of your vocabulary and replace with Visual Distress Signals VDS. Depending on where you are operating your boat you may be required both day and night VDS. A proper light may replace pyrotechnic VDS, AKA "Flares"
