All of the bolts are out, I suggested heating it up with a torch. My mechanic wants to lift it with one of our fork trucks

Do you have the lifting ring that screws in the flywheel? The long studs like to get stuck. If so pull away. It may lift the boat first. Collect so little puck like things and / or stacks of washers so you can use the nuts to help push the studs up. A proper jesus bar will fit across the tiller arm to pry upward on the 2 forward studs. Hopefully you can get it loose enough to rock back and forth a little then heat the on that needs the persuasion. DO NOT drive wedges in where the powerhead gasket is. I have even cross drilled the long studs out in the exhaust plate before.
Its at least a 6 pack job when stuck tight. My bad one took a 12 pack.

03-31-2010 03:58 PMI have also used an air hammer on the end of the studs to knock them loose. You will find corrosion all up and down them when you get it loose. I have also lifted the back of a 7000 lb boat before they came loose so be prepared.

I have the lifting ring on the flywheel, went down to get the forklift and someone was using it without permission ( permission is a couple gallons of diesel and an 18 pack of Bud Light) So I'll have to wait til tomorrow.

Have you had the lower unit off recently. If not the shaft maybe stuck in the crank. Had it happen not fun you have to hole saw a hole in the midsection and heat up the shaft or cut it if its really stuck.

Bob, go to the drugstore and buy a dozen of those pop and shake cold paks. Carefully cut them all open and place the white powder inside in a ziplock freezer back. Now put some deisel fuel in and mix untill you have a slurry. Place 1 blasting cap inside and tape the baggy around the stuck area then duck, yell Phragle rules! and it should then be in at least 2 pieces.
