Anyone have any good connections in shipping a 200lbs crate about 3x3x2ft?!

From Winthrop Harbor, IL to either Bayonne, NJ 07002 or Baltimore, Md 21225. Both adresses are shipping terminals.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm out of the owner op game right now, but got a couple friends that I run east with every week that may be interested. They leave on Saturdays, so would have to beable to load on thier way through and it would have to deliver on a Sunday night or Monday in Bayonne.

That's something you would have to work out with them. Being such a small piece, I don't think it would be too bad. Any idea of the hours of operation at each terminal? Either one of the guys could pluck it out of the IL terminal on thier way home if the terminal isn't open on saturday afternoon when the leave out. Jim delivers NYC on Monday mornings and usually reloads in Philly, so Bayonne would be on his way.
Is this piece going over seas? If so, will all the export papers be set to go ahead of time.
If you think you might want to go this route, I can make some calls.

Operating hours in Bayonne is 8am-4pm and I'm guessing about the same in Baltimore.

Yes, it's going over seas and the crate will be labeled and ready to go. It's beeing sent from a residence in IL but I guess we can work something out there.

Easiest thing would be to put it in a pickup and meet at the TA truckstop at the state line.
What's in the crate? Both these guys haul food product (meat & cheese)
I'm leaning more towards Jim, cause he does LTL cheese loads and it won't hurt to put the crate in with it. Brian hauls fresh meat combos and his loads are sealed from the packing plant.

Oh, just as a reference. The go'n rate for a pallet spot to NJ is just shy of $400 with the fuel surcharge.

Some steering parts, transom assy etc.

I will check with the seller to see what he says about it!

Great to see everyone trying to help.. . but.. Fed X National will pick up at residence,, drop where ever for about $1.25 a pound.. Just seems like less trouble.

Ok. Let me know if you want me to make a call. I've got one other guy in mind, but not sure if he's run'n next week. His truck got back into at a dock and it's in the body shop this week. Don't know if he's gonna be ready to roll next week.

I looked at UPS and if I split the parts up in two crates, since they have a 150lbs maximum, I will get away with $75 per crate (inkl fuel surcharge) and I guess that is ok.

Why not let Fed Ex or UPS take it all the way to Sweden?

    Because they're too damn expensive...

The sea freight I'm using is $160 per cubic metre. So the shipping within the US is about the same as from US to Sweden.
