Chicago is canceling its huge, annual July 3 fireworks extravaganza at Taste of Chicago in Grant Park and will replace it with three smaller fireworks shows on July 4, the Sun-Times is reporting.

It comes on top of Mayor Daley's decision to sink Venetian Night, the city's longtime annual parade of illuminated boats that drew up to 500,000 people to the lakefront for concerts and fireworks.

All the union workers are forced to take unpaid days off repeatedly...you know the guys fixing potholes, repairing sidewalks, sewers, water mains, etc.

But the aldermen keep getting raises! I hear he took some unpaid days too to make everyone feel better....my vote goes to cutting some dead weight in the personnal positons making six figures who spend their days talking on the phone to their babys daddy....not the guy who has 4 kids and a wife that dont work that makes 50-60k a year.

I was watching the news last night, and saw daley saying how he wants businesses to STAY in chicago, and move back to chicago...hmmmm something maybe he should have thought of 20 years ago before they got taxed to death....

Another way they have been raising revenue is by sending out juice collectors (parking enforcement) to write as many parking violations as possible. I got a ticket on my truck a few weeks ago outside my house for tinted front windows...$250.00 fine!!!!! That was a new one for me. Tow Zone, city sticker, residential permits, I can see. I knew tinted front windows used to be illegal to operate a vehicle in illinois with them, but law was changed in illinois. Apparently City of chicago has their own laws. Time to register the vehicles somewhere else.

Between cook county, and the city of chicago, they are slowly pushing the working class people out. Pretty soon the small percentage of decent working class people will be gone, and all that will be left is section 8 housing and goverment aid.

Then again, we all dont have armed on duty officers watching our house and escorting ourself and our family around town.....what a joke.
