I have two and the 460. One 8 3/4 and the Bear gun kit ion 2 3/4. That's a little flamethrower. I'm very popular at the indoor range when I bring it. Usually I use low-power handloads for letting people shoot it at the range. The full-load 350 gr's are pretty vicious.

    I like the 460 better.

I have the 8 3/8" 460 and 4" 500. I like them both, but prefer the 460 because of the ability to shoot cheaper ammo. Lot's of fun!

    300 gr in the Casull 1800 ft/lbs. 300 gr in the Smith 460 2800 ft/lbs.

About the same diameter, 20% longer case. The Z frame is massive as is the cylinder.

The Casull is a big boom. The Smith- like discharging lightning bolts.

Old thread, but just now finding it.

I don't own one, but get the opportunity to shoot a friend's quite often. When I first had the chance to shoot it I was somewhat intimidated. I do NOT enjoy shooting 44 magnums the least bit. I found this gun VERY fun to shoot. In fact, I can't shoot it enough. I find the accuracy amazing with open sights.

    Fun gun to shoot IMO.
A thong is like a barbed wire fence, it protects the property but doesn't ruin the scenery.

I was pleasantly suprised with the 500 also. That's what lead to the purchase of the 460.

Like Buck stated above it's fun to shoot. The gun is so massive and with the Hogue grips it absorbs alot of the recoil. I like shooting it better than my .41 magnum. Everyone should have one!
