2007 Cadillac Escalade

Hey guys. Looking to tow a 29' Outlaw or something similar with my escalade. It is the short wheel base. Truck is rated at 7500. Pretty sure the Baja is around 8200 approx. What are the dangers? I am going to install trailer brake. Do you think I will be OK towing short distances ie.2-3 hr trips. Anyone have any experience?

I would not my wife had an 07 Escalade ESV before she got her Denali the Escalades have way softer suspension I think it would want to wander.Plus even towing at limits is hairy with trailer and fuel you are probably pushing 9gs.

that platform does not tow well at its limit let alone beyond it. If you do have an accident you will also be out on the limb as far as insurance coverage as well as the legal aspects for towing above its rated limit. You might get away with running down the street to a ramp but 2-3 hrs is a major gamble.

That's ALOT of boat for a short wheel base. It'll feel OK when you first pull out the driveway.......as soon as anything other than soccer moms get near you on the road your going to have problems!

I joined the towing police when I got my dually.You don't realize how scary it is towing with a underated truck intill you have towed with something that is overrated for what you are towing.

Probably not the best tow vehicle.

That being said, I did see an Escalade EXT pulling a 42 Tiger a couple years ago. I saw it at the gas station, it was almost lifting the front of the EXT up just sitting there, one good bump going down the road and I think it would probably have done a wheelie

I towed a 20 Cig behind my buddy's a while back. The truck is a total marshmallow with even that load. The wheelie comment is absolutely correct.

2-3 hours is a short trip? 2-3 minutes is short. I would maybe pull the 29 Outlaw six blocks at 25 mph if it were necessary. But that's it.

I tow a 26' Chaparral with a 2006 Denali XL and the Denali is on its way out the door as it is too much boat for that truck. Even with the air ride the back end cannot support the tongue weight with any kind of cargo load. Looks like you are pulling a wheelie down the interstate. And I completely smoked the front brakes when I lost the trailer brakes a couple summers ago. Stock brakes are not adequate unloaded with the factory 20's. Only going to be worse with the 22's on the Escalade.

I have an 08 Escalade with AWD. I pull my 25 Outlaw and dont even know it is behind me. No issues at all. But would I tow a 29 Outlaw? I dont think I would pull it very far. But again I am only 6 miles away from my ramp.

I never knew how borderline I was,,,, I towed my 36 Outlaw with a 2500 Silverado and a 6.0 and it " pulled just fine "

A drunk pulled out in front of me and totalled it.

As long as I was getting a new truck, I bought a dually,,,,all Ill say is WOW what a difference.
