After seeing some of my fellow SOS'ers making the world a better place; I decided to try to get out a little more to do the same.
The fiancé and I sponsored a team of 12, raised money and did a 3 mile walk to end homelessness for "Lifestyles of Charles County". (3 were late so missing from the picture).
To raise awareness, our team "Health Matters" put on some hospital gear, made up some sweatshirts and went walking. We even dressed up the dog to get even more looks and awareness. We also personally matched the funds our team raised.
The name came from the fiancé being a Nurse Practitioner double certified in Womens Health and Pediatrics with her website on the back.

So this month we decided to do a clothing drive. So far we have had an overwhelming response from our friends and family. We even plan on sending some of the stuff up to Canada, eh.
Of course I can't take all the credit and I'm mainly just the muscle behind the effort but still. Muscle meaning being the donkey with a truck who is goofing off most of the time and can run around picking up clothes people leave on their front porch for us.
Proud of myself. I could have laid on the couch yesterday vs braving 20MPH winds and 30 degree temps and chose to do the right thing.

12-18-2009 10:05 AMTrish is involved with a place that gives free clothing to people everyday of the week except Sundays.
It's called FROG, and was started by her best friend, Dawn. Dawn started it by giving away items from her van parked under a bridge in New Smyrna Beach. Chick Filet got wind of it, and now they donate money for the building FROG runs out of now. FROG standsfor Forever Relying On God. I don't know how many know this, but Chick Filet is owned by a religious family. When you build a new one, you are not allowed to work on Sundays. They aren't open on Sundays either. Don't get caught cussing on a Chick Filet job, or you will be kicked off that job.
FROG helps out a lot of homeless people. I think Florida has more than their fair share of homeless, because they won't freeze to death in the winter.

Good for you, Mark.
I was expecting a thread stating that you were in local clubs giving money to poor women too broke to afford clothes! If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Somebody needs to bust his chops for posting a thread cheerleading himself in third person ala Bob Dole.
