I hope Gieco got between them and those evil vulture red boats and towed them in. No need to make a bad day worse with a huge tow fee....

Ya it was pretty close. I would have liked to see a couple of pumps working. They did however get the boat cleared and off the course rather quickly.

I was watching from the Galleon roof. They hooked the boat on lap one and had to recover. Took the same line on lap 3 and it was over. One of the red towboats got 'em and I was wondering the same thing about the cost. I heard on the radio that when the boat got back to the dock it sank and a diver had to go down and hook up lines. I drove from KW to MIami today and I passed the boat on its way home. It looked like the engine was out and the back hatch was now made of plastic shrinkwrap!

They were both fine. I flew back to Cape Coral with the owner. Lost the hatch, canopy worked as advertised. They are not happy with Sea Tow, we'll see if he comments.

He will be back out. Thinks Miami will be a tough deadline though....

Have a video of the scene, post-accident. once sea tow hooked up, my wife thought they were back in the race. The tow boat and race boat were cooking towards the pits. Will post my video once it finishes uploading.

Once the chopper is hovering overhead, you can see the Geico inflatable helping one racer from the water.

I figured it was a set fee (big fee) so get the boat back quick and get another.

So the Geico boats sort of act like a tow boat so that the owners don't get a huge bill from the towboats?

Paul looks like Tow Boat not Sea -Tow.I can't believe that you have to worry about salvage charges at a sanctioned race.Should be flat fee.

Anyone have an idea what the towing companies charge the race team for sonething like Hauling Baby HR to the lift? it wasn't a very long distance.

alos, does the race organization allow volunteers to bring their boats specifically to provide a free tow to the race team? Maybe put a special flag on the boat and sit in the inner track.

They can charge pretty much what they want. There are many old horror stories.

Maritime law states salvage rules. I don't know the details but ,in general any unattended boat is far game.
