We would like to congratulate David and Travis!
Not only did they set a new Kilo record at 91.865 but they also ran the race of their lives on Sunday and won the overall.
All the hard work paid off. The Pirates team are fantastic human beings and that is what makes them truly special in my view. Travis's mom even offered us Popeyes chicken after they beat us in the Kilo run.
Once again, Congratulations for an awesome weekend of racing!!!!

05-02-2012 11:22 AMTo meet the Kilo requirements for a world record the boat has to be inspected to the rules of the class. So they actually ran the exact same setup, except less fuel, that they ran in the race on Sunday. I do not remember if they ran the same prop though. On Sunday they ran a 30.5" pitch 5 blade I believe. But the boat gets teched for weight, prop diameter, drive depth, stock ECM, prop pitch, etc.....

05-03-2012 07:57 PMOne of the things you find out, when you are at an APBA santioned event, they are sticklers for the rules. When the boat is inspected, even a little crack in a side window kept Bucanneer from getting in the water to do any testing on Saturday. The only way they were able to get the boat approved to run and race, the chief safety official had to come over (after a long wait) and make a determination as to if the the boat went over, would the window break out or did it have the structural support still to only crack farther?
Ot on Cat Lite, the referee gave the boats certified, stock, ECM's to run. None of this supposed stock stuff going on. You put the ECM in that they supply, or you do not run.......Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!

ok Paul ,,I need to ask ,,they questioned the little crack in the side window,,,,what did they say about the intentional 4'' holes that were put in the little aft windows to let the air out??,
,in a side rollover at 90 mph,,the water pressure entering that hole ,i think would break your neck,,?? just trying to understand!!thanksIMCO #10- 2009 National Champions

05-04-2012 08:54 AMI was there when it was reviewed. There are no requirements in the rules which require the canopy on the boats to be 100% sealed/watertight. Designs which let air in are okay, but David did suggest reviewing the design.
I must say I love the vents and fans in Octane and how they keep you cool.Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!
