Seems fairly straight; probably another 35k to put it back in order.

Question... TRS's are already deep, doesn't adding a notch in the transom make them even deeper????

those 330trs would never hold up to the kind of power a KV needs to run with todays boats anyways. Id seal up that transom and replace with beefy drives with shorty lowers at a higher x dimension

Yup, like some ssm iv or v drives on boxes and Some 750hp mills. Problem with a boat likethat, by the time you buy drives, tranny, build motors, and rig the boat, you'll have 75-100k in a old wellcraft that runs maybe 80 with the power. And then, once you run it hard at 80+ in big water, the difference between the Larry smith 38 and wellcraft version will begin to show.

I guess its all relative,,
depends which relative left you the money!
If I was part of the Rich and Shameless (in your best Robin Leach accent)
Id get me an MV KV and throw in a pair of the new Merc 1300s with #8s
Yeah it may only do 90-100 but it would do it in style!

I have Bravo's on mine with 500 EFI's .....78 MPH all day long, and in ROUGH water, plus she picks up chicks and makes me look good.
IF...and it's a pretty damn big IF....I ever buy a new CIG or maybe a stepped Scarab I would paint that Strip down the side.....too cool for old school.

Wow, that's some good speed from a non stepped kv .
I don't think the avs hull 38 does better than that with 500 mercs. Hell, my buddies 33avs has a hard time hitting 80 with 500 mercs.
The silver and black kv on eBay looks really nice. Owner says he gets 61mph out of it with hopped up 420 mercs.
One of the best looking offshore hulls ever in my opinion!

There was a guy out in Clear Lake with an 87' 38KV non Vice edition with BLower motors and he was doing well past 90+ .....I should know since he went past me while I was at 75 MPH....
I had a hard time believing his story about 90+ until I saw it with my own eyes.....

10-14-2010 10:01 PMOften wondered what happened to this boat. Haven't seen it in awhile. Always thought it was one of the nicer ones around, though I was never too crazy about the trumpet horns on the deck.
Looks like he did an awsome job on the cabin.
