The speed of these boats never ceases to amaze me. The power they display in the corners, and the way the turn fins allow them to hang is amazing. Does anyone own a two seater they can take me for a ride in?????

In heat 4B I believe, the two boats battling for the win finished less than a boat lengths apart, and not much more then a boat width apart side to side.

I'll try to get the sequence of the last corner when I have a chance to see what I have.

Swung a little too wide at the start of the final. A lessen on how to get a one lap penalty......

The outside on the start in Unlimited at Detroit's Roostertail corner has to be a real pucker up experience........

And your champ. Dave had this win and it made him the winningest Unlimited driver of all time. Passed Bill Muncey up.......

It was too bad Steve wasn't there. They tried really hard by throwing an older boat together and having the crew chief (I believe) drive it to see what they could accomplish with Steve being hurt and the boat in pieces.

Tommy should be able to give more insight when he gets his stuff up. His pics will also be better......

Lap two he got into a roostertail and blew off the side of the rear stabilizer. A couple laps later he blew the front wing half off. But, he finished the race and ended up on the awards stage.....

This is what REAL boat racing looks like........ Relatively equal equipment, separated primarily by the talent of the drivers and crews. This was the basis for most of the APBA historically regardless of class or speed range, until IMHO checkbook racing and designer classes took over Offshore.....

    Thanks Rich....

Probably the onlu boat with a distinct advantage, and it is a small one, is the Qatar boat with their unlimited prop budget. No one else can afford the $ for the number of props they run at this time, so they run a tad thicker blade to make them last.

At least that's the "inside" story......

Everything else is pretty equal for the top teams....
