06-22-2010 10:10 AMWith the VL reaching speeds never reached before, are we going to see a kilo run in Sarasota?
It would be awesome to see all 9 or 10 boats to shoot it out for the kilo!!!
I believe the last kilo holder was Steve back in 2003 with a kilo speed of 91 and change.
Talk about excitement!!!!!

06-22-2010 10:38 AMI am no expert but would it not balance itself out with the current running both ways?
Its not Sarasota but at least the fans would see some crazy speeds although we have never seen 7 miles on any strecth in any boat. Not VL,SV,CL or even SC.

Isn't Steve the current record holder? Isn't his boat the only one still legal under the VL rules when the record was set?

06-22-2010 11:58 AMAs late as last year we never had issues with any boats bottom. Most of the boats have had their bottoms blue printed or sharpenned which IMO does not make them illegal.
I remember Bob running a crazy speed in TN a couple of years back but I dont think it was an official record. Steve or Bob would be able to shed some light as to who holds the record.

06-22-2010 01:12 PMIt will and it wont. We experienced this in Savannah. The way drag increases the run into the current can be a greater loss than the gain on the run with the current. The other problem is propping for the current. You end up having to compromise to optimize for either into it or with it. A big current makes the situation worse.

06-24-2010 07:21 PMWil,
You r so right, Sarasota would be the perfect place for one of these VL to set a new World record. From what i have seen the last few races they have really taken it up a notch. Sarasota would be an Offical Kilo and set a new standard in SVL. Be great to see a guy like Steve take a shot at it and bettering his own record, or the speedy IMCO boat. The stage is set lets see what happens.
I know Fountain would of run it 4sure if they could of made it. Doc is still possible trying to atleast get the VL there. Holiday weekend are good and bad sometimes.

06-24-2010 09:22 PMOK,, you put her { the boat on that diet } and she will be showing some leg...Throw in a short prop for the short course and I predict a mash pit at turn 1. Randy won last year with a 30"
This is going to be a slug fest...
PS... I will be feeding George a bottle full of advil for breakfast.
