Isn't it possible both of the boats skaterdave mentioned could run and be competitive in P1.

My understanding is that Class 2 is still avaiable, SV is a new class. The overall boat count between C2 and SV is down 2 boats, R Rated (not racing) and TKO running SBI. They can run C2 or detune to C3 or may be run C1. No other C2 boats have shown.

I believe that if SV didn't happen we would have lost more than 1 boat.

Both of the boats Skaterdave referred to are more than capiable of running class 1 speeds, but I dont how safe it would be for TKO.

Thanks Dean. I just know the number one complaint I hear from ex-racers who have boats sitting around is how rules changes made their boats obsolete after large investments and they won't get back in until the orgs do something about that. Seems like a good reason and not a lame excuse.

I had mutiple coversations with walter from TKO. Even if we had left class 2 alone. That is a class 1 boat all day long. Class 2 is still available, but only if there are at least 5 boats. Buy introducing SV, brought the Bad Boy Bandit out as well, but lets not look at the positive, thats no fun. Smitty

I know you don't have boats in every available class, so the classes are not all in the rule book. Is there an understanding of what all classes available in OPA are?

I agree the SV as you adopted is a great class. There are many boats that fit right in. It is a class with the proper target speed and overpowered boats have little advantage because of the drives.

    You added Smitty......

Sometimes we only get to hear the positive if the negative is brought up because that seems to be the way news works.

FYI, I think the change was the correct one. Just like I like SVL with the single 525 Bravo. Your class is an edge of the seat, driver/luck/competitive boat/testing/preparation class.

Are any engine modifications allowed to the 525?

SVL is a great class. Progressive, Typhoon, Under Destruction, and IMCO all won races this year. Pig Iron, and Pirate Racing have shown equal speed. There are a few new teams tempted to join in and a few more sitting out that are being called back in to service.

basically you can port the heads and bore the block. Stock head castings, ecu, exhaust, crank, cam, no race fuel, 9.5/1 compression. Pretty simple to tech and reliable.

Thanks, What about intake? Or is that it period. Bore and headporting?

How do you tech that by the way?

The idea is to make it so you can inspect with out tear downs.

That's what I was wondering. How do you check Dean's list of mods/non-mods without teardown? And how many mods are there you can check without teardown?

From what I was told you can only pump so much out of those motors without running race fuel or changing the computers.

If you feel someone is cheating you can just swap computers and run. If your boat runs worse you know the answer.

    Simple and low-tec.

at least thats the way I understand it

ecu's are an easy swap? So a spare in the tech hands would be easy?

OSS hands out ecu's for cat lite and 850 for each race.

Well If Smitty feels Dean is cheating Smitty can unplug his ECU's and swap them with Dean's.

*I Dont feel Dean is cheating, just using him as an example

I know the boats are extremely even and set-up is key. Same with SVL and Cat Outboard. So I was wondering how much can be modified and still be able to tech without teardown. That really is a key to improving competition and slight increments of improvement.

    I did not know that.

So the tech is the same as SV in OPA but with a supplied ECU? Or are those sealed motors like SVL?
