An earth-shattering show
Blue Angels’ performance breaks windows in downtown shops; no injuries occur
By TOM CARR
Record-Eagle staff writer
TRAVERSE CITY — A Blue Angels jet is believed to have blown out a plate glass window at a Front Street gallery/gift shop Saturday afternoon when vibrations from the F/A-18 Hornet rattled panes throughout downtown.
As a loud boom from one of six jets staging an airshow by West Grand Traverse Bay at the time wowed and startled the street crowds just after 3 p.m., four people in the back of Watermelon Sugar watched in astonishment as the 8-foot-by-7-foot plate glass window came crashing inward. It took glass vases, ornamental balls and other fragile artwork with it.
Nobody was standing close enough to be hurt, though there were some shards as much as 15 feet from the window.

Beautiful day here, 81 with a 8 MPH Wind......We watched the Blue Angels right up until My Boat started sinking....then we started bailing, I beached it...looked everywhere for a leak, and bailed out about 20 gallons of water.....then we took off(transom about 3" above water line....couldn't get on plane...Charlie(Sonic 31) kept bailing all the way back to the Marina...2 hours, We used Donna's (Mrs Sonic 31) phone to call the Marina and have the lift stay an extra 15 minutes...(My Friend Sheila tipped him another $15 for staying)There was a line but once you tell folks You are sinking, they let You go first....plug was in...no water through the through Hull fittings...pictures as soon as they come through.
Dave, My forklift guy pulled the plug and about 50 gallons poured out, Great Crew, no one panicked, everyone pitched in to help...tomorrow is Work Rack DayParabellum FJ²B

04-02-2016 07:50 PMWas a good day on the water with "Bobcat" watching Blue Angels off of Boca Chica. Then the day got interesting when I tell Bob I think we are taking on water. He says maybe cooler water. I think not but don't want to get worried. Then Bob says maybe plug fell out of boat. I jump overboard and find that the plug is in. Of course we find that bilge pump doesn't work. We beach boat and start bailing with a cup. Get the boat at manageable floating situation. We make it back to forklift under power 2 minutes before marina closes. Still was a good day as everyone remained calm and we were in the Keys
