I understand what you're saying - to a point.
If the boat was Warpath, or Betty cooks KAAMA, no expense would be spared.
But my 33 yr old Pantera is just an old boat at the end of the day.
On another note, I recall pulling a roll of 33 and a McD's napkin out of my tool pouch to bandage my hand after shooting a roofing nail into it. Never even climbed down the ladder, just kept working.

I agree, it's a Wellcraft for goshsake. I still want rigging items to perform at or above OEM specs. Examples, I rarely use Mercruiser nyloc nuts - I go to the industrial nut and bolt wholesaler. I used Rustoleum industrial oil based paint for the bilge, not Awlgrip. I bought bilge pump hose at my local hardware store, not the local marina. And when I tore apart my fuel pumps, everything was inspected, cleaned, and then painted with zinc chromate, primer, Rustoleum rattle can aerosol and clear coated with paint from Lowes. I could go on, but you get the idea.

08-24-2013 12:02 PMIt's amazing to me that Jim can take a peek at engines like that and tell the approximate year, modifications, possible issues, what was done to marine standards vs backyard cost avoidance, etc. I would have never spotted several of those things, especially the years. (I may have noticed the exhaust wasn't complete though).
He should start a business where he surveys boats utilizing only pictures......Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!

08-27-2014 12:30 AMCome on guys, the Vice thing isn't such a bad thing.....is it? lol
Joe was a bit off on the numbers though. Only 33 edition boats built.
I don't see anything wrong with stating it was a repainted Vice edition. It matters to some people. As of now there are three repaints like mine being stripped back down.
This particular one was the old Double Vision boat. One of the few that had the season 5 scheme instead of the usual season 2
