Pic sent from Jim to add to the above comments. Per Jim:
"This boat was an '86 or '87. It arrived at the Lilly dealership as a 540, #3 fountain built race/pleasure.
It was soon bought, repowered, and raced as a B Class boat. I was with Art when it first arrived. Pic is from "91 or "92 when I first actually drove it."

08-10-2021 09:44 PMYes sir, Nice find. I'm curious what the pad looks like. It made a great B boat, with 500 something HP it was pretty near unbreakable drive system. I generally think of it as taking about 800 while knowing that is enough to break them. Heartbeat with the B motors would rev at 5800 in the water and entered at 6200 and it would just eat fluctuating between 6200 and 5800 the entire race the day I was asked to fill in as driver.
I'd be staring at it too.

I can see where the bottom of the boat has been worked (blueprinted) its strange because the boat was titled to coates in 1994. then the survey was done for david night in 4/16/97. listing ralph johnson as one of the operators. both names i took off of the boat as throttleman and driver. vessels name is listed as NEVER NUFF.
also stated survey was done at griffin marine. then the boat dissapered until 2007 i dont think it ever raced. otherwise someone would have a pic of it somewhere. feel free to call me anytime 734 363 0410Still searching for the ultimate old school project....
