I have recently gotten a 1968 27.5' SeaCraft race hull and plan on doing a full restoration on it. I would love to hear any history or get some help finding out what this boat was originally numbered as and colored. I do know that there was only 10-12 of these made. I believe only 10 actually, 2 at the 26.5' length #31 Carl Moesly's boat and another yellow hull, then several at the 27.5' length, and one or two at the 28.5' length. The mold had an adjustable transom back that allowed for different length hulls from 25'-30'. I know there was Carl's boat red #31, a Yellow 28' #202, one numbered #505, and one #123,and several others... If anybody knows the other boats and # it would be a great help to me far as tracking down history and figuring out which boat mine was. Most all were outboard models but think there was one inboard. Any info on this would be great too. Any pictures race results with drivers name and vessel # would help as well. Thanks in advance for the help. I would love to figure this out so I can paint the boat back the original color and put the original race numbering on her! Also I just love hearing the old seacraft race history as well.
It was turned into a cc but I will be going back to the full original race cap.

10-02-2013 10:06 AM1st Bahamas 500
1967(?) 1st Bahamas 500....Red Crise spectacular! I think there was something like 63 boats entered and it was definitely rough water! I rode with Wayne Vickers in a Seacraft with twin Mercs. If I don't screw this up, I will attach 2 pics..1 of the boat and 1 of me sitting in the boat at Freeport. I don't remember how fast the boat was, but I do remember all of us were watching Carl Mosely's cute daughter on the docks. Anyway, the race starts and about 20-30 miles later we were doing OK when a throttle cable came loose from the engine and we were dead in the (very rough) water for awhile getting it reattached. When we got going again everybody was out of sight so we actually had to navigate instead of following the crowd. When we finally got to the half way fuel stop at Nassau it was late in the evening. We didn't want to go across the flats on the way to Eleuthra in the dark, so we said the Hell with it and got a hotel room for the night. That sounds like a gentlemanly way to race. Next morning we got up at a decent hour, had some breakfast and continued our journey, finally finishing in an elapsed time of something in excess of 24 hours.....but we did finish! It was either the next year or the year after next that Red instituted a new rule that said you had to finish in a specified time or you were disqualified. Apparently he just didn't understand that this was a gentleman's game.

10-07-2013 01:01 PMI think it was ran in 1968
I would love to figure out what boat it was as raced. I know a few boats that it is not. The #31 of carls was a 26.5' where mine is a 27.5 so I know it is not his old boat. A fellow in F.L. most likely has his old boat. The #202 yellow seacraft was a bit longer at 28.5' and had a cut down freeboard so that is not it either. There is a #505 but I don't know much about it. There is also 7 other race boats built and I would love to know more about them as well. They had a mold that was adjustable from 26-30 and 10 boats or so were produced before the mold fell apart, so there is not many more hulls that it could be. The boat I got was raced in a money green color I believe, at least that was the first color of paint on the boat. The second color was a yellow followed by several other colors threw the years. I hope somebody can remember a green hull that was raced or has info on the other few boats made. Process of elimination would work if I had enough info. There was also one inboard in the group of seacrafts where the other 9 were outboard models. Most if not all rigged by Mr K and many were use as test boats at lake X for mercury after they were no longer raced. Any help is greatly appreciated.Last edited by flyingfrizzle; 10-07-2013 at 01:44 PM.

10-07-2013 01:03 PMThere were many more seacrafts race boats raced when the rules allowed for a production hull in the races. Most of the race boats were the production 21' seacraft /Moesly models like pictured above #26 #42 ect. My hull is from 1968 and was one of the 10 special built hulls just for racing (26-30 footers). It was when they changed the rules to allow a non production hulls to enter. It was a sister hull to the "#31 My racing Machine" that Carl race that is shown in one of the pics above. There are only 3 of the 10 know to exist now and I would like to full restore mine, I just need more info to find out which hull she was ie. # and Driver. I would love to see a picture of her in its hay day if possible if someone would have one to share.
I can be contacted at www.mwahl1006@gmail.com

10-07-2013 01:34 PMQUOTE=Ratickle;608986]Did Richie race Seacrafts?[/QUOTE]
I did find this quote from Carls daughter:
"In a 1968 Nassau race, I did find another 25' SeaCraft, #505, named Joan E., drivers Powers and Thayer."
The top two pics are the #505 21' production hull where the lower is a hull like mine.
The boat in the attached pic at the bottom right is #505 a seacraft the left #909 is not
