Roger, but I was speaking in ref. to the detent assy. kit does it include the ball. Illustration does not show a ball and I did not get one with the parts. but they were loose from the shop. Just curious if the ball was included. Also does the taper go into the housing or does the ball set into the taper?
Thank you all for the help

05-03-2010 01:25 PMYour confusing me. The ball is part of the tube thingy that is called a detent assembly. It is installed as positioned in the picture #3. If the ball comes out it is worn out.

Understood, mine is in need of replacement, worn out.
The exploded view is of the spring/tube assembly~does the S.S. Ball come with the kit?
When installing the New Tube/Assembly>the tube has a tapered end, does that go toward the ball to secure it, or toward the housing and then press in the ball?
How do you press in the ball with the new assembly?

05-03-2010 04:43 PMThe new one should have the ball in the tube already. Grease it up and and slide in cover with ball facing out.
