Mornin Ho's !
Still going to take the compressor out to the shop and see what it does. It is the "Old Style Portable" which means it weighs about 60 LBS...Parabellum FJ²B

Hi Ho's! Another sunny day. Mowed the front lawn yesterday, so doing the back today. Then its wash cars time. Get the gas cap today and hope that fixes the gas smell.

If it does not.... There are a couple of other things to check next. But that's the start. I would change the cap, air it out, maybe even spray air freshener? I don't know. Fuel smell seems to linger in things, and then close it back up and go sniffing tomorrow. If I recall, the tanks are pressurized. Imagine if you had a different problem... it would be doing whatever it is under pressure. I buy bad cap seal equals fumes but no drips.
According to the interweb, when that whatever is the cap, a known issue, it smells in the trunk and the backseat especially.
Heck, maybe it will run better. Who knows.
You know, they will start sending you the paper copies of the catalogs. Those are gold. They have so much info and diagrams. You can get individual engine parts. Everything is by chassis number, so mine is a "W 107" I look at the W 107 section and then look at the other models, too. You really pick up a good mental database of each. (I don't get the Porsche version.)

Played hookey and went snorkeling.....( I only worked 3 hours) Absolutely fantastic...two big Nurse Sharks...one about 6' and the other about 4'...plus one of the Lionfish has gotten huge (body about the size of your fist....poisonous fins about the size of a basketball)...might make plans to end his stay in the Florida Keys. Then some husband and wife boobs came down and ruined the snorkeling for everyone....standing on (fragile) stuff and being generally loud...they were pasty white ....dollars to cheese doughnuts they were from Wisconsin...normally I help people who do not know any better ....but these people needed a beating....with their own shoes

Gas smell in the trunk and back seat, so pretty sure the new cap will cure it. Sent a catalog with the cap. Haven't read it yet. My Dads first Mercedes was a 560SL and then he got the 420SEL that I have now. One day I'll buy a 560SL to have.

There are two or three different stories in Bob's post, depending on which words you skip.
One version has 6 foot and 4 foot nurses.

I've seen low mile mint 560SL's between $15K and $20K. Not in a hurry, but I check almost weekly on EBay and if I see a good deal I'll scoop it up. Made a trip to Costco for water cooler bottle. Was hungry so ate, slice of pizza $1.99 and a hot dog $1.50 with a drink is cheap. Can't see how they make money on those items.

My Navigator needed coils a few times. But I was lucky in that it was still under warranty. The warranty included free service to 80K kilometers or 5 years. Free tire's and brakes plus oil changes and the coils made it worth the extra $5k I paid over the Expedition. Sold it as soon as the warranty was up though. Decided to buy an Excursion instead. If they still did the free service to 80k Id buy another one instead of the Cayenne.
