I need some good advise on locating the proper spot for my new Latham water pickup. The area around the drain plug is not tall enough for the pickup to fit there.I marked 2 spots on one of the Pixs as suggested spots. The boat is a 2005 Donzi 26ZX single engine right hand rotation Hydromotive 5 blade.

Dang, I've never seen one of those installed on a single engine. Does Latham represent that model as the single engine one?

They don't specify it as either single or twin, its fits my 1 1/4" water hose. My 496HO is whippled, raylar alluminun heads, changed cam, roller rockers, smaller compressor pulley and modified pcm programing. Motor should be producing roughly 750 hp

01-04-2013 08:30 PMI would trust the drive pickup more than the hull pickup, unless you get it at the lowest point of the boat. On a pad hull, I'd be afraid you's have no water forced in because of the boat riding on the pad, and the pickup not being in the water. Also, in a coener, with the pickup out to the side, there would be no water forced in as the hull was riding on the opposite side of the Vee.
Can you shorten it easily and put it down in the bottom beside the plug?Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!

The local Merc guy in my area keeps telling me I need a water pickup, and that my drive can't supply enough water. How much water can a XR drive supply? Can it supply enough for 750hp? Whats the max HP anyone has seen pulled through an XR drive?
