05-09-2011 11:23 AMI did that exact thing, 200 merc, 16 sidewinder....couldn't drive the thing, boat would rum about 70 and chime walk all over the place. Ended tearing the transom up.

Solid motor mounts will help tremendously with the chine walking... been there done that....

I still have a 16ft sidewinder,white with heavy gold metal flake and I have 2001 merc 2.5 on it and some tabs and it runs great!

How solid is the transom on that boat??
The fact that it already has diamond plate on it makes me think it's already soft.
I see bad things in the future with the 200 on that transom"Keep the bottle on the bar Ira, I won't be long".
