Yep, I'm gonna be a step-grandpa at 40 yrs old...
My 25 yr step daughter is pregnant.
I've known her since she was 12. Her Mother and I didn't even start dating for a few years after that.
Good God, my own daughter is only 11, and she's going to be a step-aunt.
Just found out a few hours ago. Kind of hard to wrap my head around it at the moment.

That would be "Pap's" yard.
It's been a several generation tradition in my family that anybody that is a Grandpa is referred to as "Pap".
And, I've been house shopping for the past few month's, and where I'm looking, the only neighborhood kids are going to to be Javalina's, Coyote's, and Roadrunner's.
Here's the view I'm looking for...

Thanks guys for the Congrats.
She's a great kid (err, I guess I shouldn't say kid).
I'm questionable on the boyfriend, he's a nice enough guy, but lacks the level of motivation I would have hoped for. They are contemplating marriage at this point, but haven't decided on anything.
I can't say I'm entirely happy about this, but I'll definitely support her - I've always treated her as my own daughter.
It will be kind of cool to be "Pap". Just didn't think I'd become Pap at age 40."Keep the bottle on the bar Ira, I won't be long".

Same thing happend to me this year (36yo at the time). Now the baby is 6 months old. The step daughter and grand baby have moved home, and the boyfriend is no more. This has all happend in the last month. I am sure my case is not the rule, but it is in my case. Love Kaylie, and her mom Jennifer too. BIG change at my house. That's for sure!

You've known me long enough that I could tell in your response that you knew my feelings about all this.
JJ is already talking of "We should move back to Toodiddle-e-doo"
I think I'm staying out here in the desert.
But, it'll all be good. My Step-daughter will make a good Mom, but, boy does she have some challenges ahead of her."Keep the bottle on the bar Ira, I won't be long".

Kaylie - Beautiful name - almost named my daughter Kayleigh. You'll like this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dphpDdfZUGw
David - when you say she moved back home - where is home that she moved back to? With her Father?
I'm a bit afraid that after the baby is born and "fatherhood" set's in, the boyfriend is going to fly. They've been together for at least 5-6 years, but he's a few years younger than her, and I'm afraid he's not gonna be ready to be a Dad, and she gonna be left on her own.
OR - she's gonna be like her Mom and get pissed, and throw him out and have to fend for herself."Keep the bottle on the bar Ira, I won't be long".
