I've owned and operated bone stock diesel trucks and heavy equipment for years but I'm a total newb to the pickup truck performance scene. I finally found a truck that is exactly what I want right down to the year and color, 03 7.3, 86k, crew, long bed 4x4, SRW(Fukin hard to find). My only problem with it is that is has an AFE intake, Banks exhaust, Edge Evo tuner but no pyro, trans temp, or boost guage. The rest of the truck is stock as far as I can tell. It doesnt look like the owner was trying to race this thing but he was pulling a 5th wheel camper.
From what little I've read here and there, the additional guages are a must with any mods. Should I give this thing a seccond look or keep shopping?
Fixxer, Buzilla???

I had an 03, best Powerstroke I owned , my 99 and 00 were faster but the 03 was great all around, the mods you have are not out of the ordinary.

11-09-2010 10:22 PMalso agree these are the "to do" list for these trucks. It should have guages but if it is not beat probably no concerns. It is getting hard to find a low mile 7.3 as they are one of the last diesels without "issues". good luck with your purchase.

Cut out the stock muffler and replace with straight pipe. Donaldson Tymar intake, and tunner of chip of your choice. A 6.0L trans cooler if your gonna do a lot of heavy towing.

I have been around them for awhile my truck is a 95. Best to leave them alone if you want 300,000 miles out of them. Everybody I know that modified has eventually had some troubles. We just retired two work trucks with over 300k miles no major issues.

DP Tuner chip really wakes the truck up, throttle response becomes 100% better. I have 5 tunes from 60 hp towing all the way to 120hp race , 80 hp econo tune gets me about 2mpg .
Tune 1 is stock and man is it slowwwwwwww and lazy
