Or, perhaps the suggestion itself was a comic premise, juxtaposing the current interest in stories and pictures of Lucy's travel, in light of the fact that she is a beautiful woman in exotic and fascinating places against his potential stories as another dude going to Jersey by truck to get his boat.

Dr Gary, Have you weighed your boat accurately with your current set up? It would be interesting to actually find out how much your boat weighs with the S/C motors.
