Got my second 550sx home Saturday. Only ski I would own. Started with 79 440 way back when. Couple early 550s after that. Never liked the 650s at all. Too heavy, short foot well, etc for my tastes. I had a 750 sxi 2 summers ago. I enjoyed it. I thought the boat was well balanced for size and power. I hit 55 with it a few times. Went back to light small 550sx last year. Got a second with reed motor this past weekend. After searching for an sx reed boat for a few years, two more popped up on local CraigsList in past 2 days since I got mine. My favorite and recomendation REED CASE 550SX !!

I've still got a 750SXi that I don't ride much anymore... grew up on them and just can't make myself sell it because that one afternoon a year is always a blast!

05-12-2010 09:31 AMI rode the 800 last year and it's bad a$$! I was 289 pounds last summer, I'm down 30 and looking forward to trying it out again. It had been years since I rode a stand-up, used to ride 650's which were a little tricky in the waves. The 800 is very stable and very fast compared to the old days. It's my neighbor's ski, I didn't really want to try it because I thought I'd sink it at my weight. I was very impressed. This thread brings back memories. I used to work at Butch's, Oscar built some of the best engines. There are a lot of old 550's out there with Team Butch gear under the hood.

Team Butch! Their most famous and beautiful rider from the 90s went to my high school: Christy Carlson. She was a senior when I was a freshman.

I was a 550 rider for many years. I had to install a bilge pump with a foot switch due to the submarine trick. LOTO was a freakin blast for air time! Good times!
Marriage+kids=no more ski.
I am only a boater now but that 800 sure looks fun.

05-14-2010 10:25 PMStock 550??? Well,, let's have a contest,, winner gets a t-shirt,, when my jet ski was on the cover of jet pilot magazine for getting in the guiness book of world records for worlds fastest jet ski, in the article it said there was only one part that was stock....... Whoever guesses which part on the whole thing that was not highly modified gets a t-shirt....
