this will be our first season boating with our 2 year old son in our Scarab. Last year we used our 38 cruiser very little and had no problems with him being one. Now hes very mobile and the wife and I are desiding on either strapping a booster seat or child seat to a front bolster and strapping him in. Or my wife wants to hold him while shes in the bolster seat???? how do you moms and dads do it? Suggestions? thanks

05-08-2010 04:23 PMYou're going to have to pick your days. You're also going to have to watch your speeds every time. There's just no way to do adult performance boating with a baby.

Keep it under 80mph when crushing 6ft rollers.

I always opted for Mom holding them. When they are that small their neck muscles are not nearly developed enough to let them bounce around. We also put a little cotton in their ears for the noise and wind. Have fun and be safe. He will love it.
Whats with all this Skater Nation nonsense?

i had my daughter in my boat when she was 6 months old and she is 6 years old today and still loves it! always had life jacket on her and someone holding her. MOST IMPORTANT, when we had the kids on the boat - i always took my time and went nice and slow... boating with kids is a different type of boat, its a compromise but its a great day on the water!

As eveyone has said, good fitting life jacket, hat and sunscreen and hold him on an adults lap. Keep trips short and easy. Bring a towel to sleep on the floor if you need to take a rest stop for him. My daughter started boating at 9 mos and is still going out with me.

Don't skimp on the infant life vest....and make sure a proper fit.
