I am visiting next week for a conference and wondered if anyone would be around. I am staying at the Gaylord Opryland.
Cheers!

Have you been before? Orpyland Hotel is actually pretty cool. You never have to leave, and if you do... Bass Pro is across the street. It's a perfect world!

I went to a wedding once in Nashville about 15 years ago. Don't remember where we stayed. There are a few "Opryland" hotels. I was originally to stay in the Radisson Hotel at Opryland but one of my group canceled and I got that room at the Gaylord Opryland instead. Won't be renting a car. Not worth it.

No, he has to stay at the shop. However, in the past he has been with me on business trips to Hawaii and Germany.

Never checked in to the Gaylord. We were evacuated about 11pm. They wanted us to go to the local High School....and I had visions of the SuperDome after Katrina. I thought they were being overly concerned. Luckily, I saw my friend with a car and we found a Holiday Inn Express with rooms. Got some other friends to get a ride to the hotel that night. Got our stuff out of the Gaylord today and I am on a flight out of here tomorrow afternoon. What a nightmare!

The pictures on TV don't tell the whole story about the Gaylord. The whole firsrt floor is under water. 12 hours after we left, we were able to get our bags from the hotel and it was already starting to smell of mold and must. The CEO was on TV and said that the 3000 employees would not loose their jobs. But, for certain, it will be months before they can open again.

Yup, that is what I saw when I went to get my bags. Didn't have a camera and they were telling everyone not to take pictures. How did you get those? Only saw a few from channel 5 on TV.

I was thinking about you when I heard Patti. It's a shame. That place is beautiful.

I know that place very, very well....
I can't imagine the magnitude, or expense, or time required, of cleaning all that up...
the convention revenue loss it self will be staggering
that place generates more dollars daily, than a LOT of small towns in this country do in a month, if not a year...does Santa's sleigh have a blower ?

05-04-2010 01:59 PMwhat a shame, I have been in there and it is a very pretty place, when I hear of flooding I always think of places that might be a bit rural, but to see that type of flooding in an expensive new construction hotel, sure makes it real. They probably even had wedddings scheduled for the weekend, so sad.

Thanks all, I made it home last night via Tampa....go figure. Should have stayed there for a while. Way too much crap in the water for anything but a john boat and saw a lot of those. Nashville will be recovering for many months. My friends that were leaving this morning said the restaurant we ate at Sunday night barely escaped the flood and the area is starting to smell like fuel. Guy at the airport gate said they were having trouble getting fuel tankers to the airport. Glad I left when I did. Hope to see Nashville again someday....just a little dryer.
