Got a buddy looking for a crankshaft from an older 8hp engine. Typical google searches show places that claim to have it, but after calling them, it's not anything they can get.

Check craigslist and see if you can find an old motor for sale and just get the part you need off of it.

go aftermarket, stroker crank, raise the compression and run some nitro. Check with any go-kart place for the part you need stock or otherwise.
For an 8hp go to harbourfreight, they have a chinese made briggs for just over a hundred, i've heard
I have had luck with these people before http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/...ankshafts.htmlLast edited by Wobble; 01-04-2010 at 05:19 PM.

Sorry, obsolete, and none in anyones stock Briggs can find.. Time for a new engine. Being that old I assume it's a cast iron engine. I have a couple NOS Wisconsin cast engines about that HP I think, but need to check and see what the cranks are setup for. AIR, the BG's used a straight 3/4" keyed crank, if so I might have one. Otherwise, a Honda would be an excellent replacement choice if you want to go aluminum...
