The wife is making me get rid of my 350Z since we have a kid coming and I have to get a 4 door car. My budget is around $30K and I have looked at damn near everything out there. I have looked at and driven the Caddy STS, Mercedes E, BMW 5, Volvo S80, Lexus GS, Lexus IS, Audi A6 and Acura TL. All of the cars I am looking at are 2007 or 2008 and are Certified Pre Owned vehicles. I have narrowed it down to these 3 after driving all of the ones mentioned above.
Now, let me hear your opinions. None of these cars really do much for me but another SUV is out of the question since we already have a Land Rover and would really like to have at least one vehicle that will get better than 20MPG on road trips.
All of the cars we are looking at are fully loaded with nav and have all options.

11-16-2009 12:19 AMSkip the IS350 the backseat is way too small.....My buddy bought one for his wife who was 8 months pregnant and the car has been a thorn in their relationship once the kid started riding in the back seat in the cradle carrier.
Acura should be the most trouble-free but the A6 has the German car thunk when you close the door....
My last Audi was the A8L and it was awesome....39 months/50K miles and a broken cup holder was the lone repair issue (my wife put the large water bottles in it and broke it).

Keep the 350Z and go buy a used Altima or Camry to haul the kid around.

I would do whichever one has the best extended warranty. The cars you mentioned are all expensive to work on once it runs out. I would do a CTS personally.

11-16-2009 12:41 PMWe have an Audi A4 and love it, our first German car and have become big fans, probably an A6 or A8 next time. Haven't owned any of the others.

Keep the 350 and use the wife's car to haul the kid.

Not at all relative to this list. The Lexus IS basically is a 4 door 2 seater.
The CTS backseat is probably roomier than the ones mentioned, although the TL/A6 are probably close.
A CTS or new LaCrosse (seriously, check them out) would be my choice in that price range (but I am biased.

Bro has one too. POS, buttons falling off and all sorts of issues. Maybe just a lemon though. Seems some have very good luck with them.
I am going to be biased as well - I like the CTS or the if I has to pick from the list. The TL is cool but i swear everyone has one.
Good luck and keep us posted.
