I know the cover would be simple enough but does anyone here have the tools and ability to resurface the brass 496 seawter pump housing itself? It's grooved pretty bad as well as the cover and wasn't sure if any run of the mill welding shop would be able to braze it and resurface it.

Replace it. Hardin makes a stainless one. Bet it is a bit pricey, though...

How are the ones on the 496 different from the standard bravo-style ones?
And as mentioned Hardin makes some nice stainless steel replacements.
