This happened in South Africa, but I'm wondering how many of us actually do wear our lanyards when we are doing things like towing someone on a tube? I know I wouldn't have been. I would have figured the speeds were too slow to worry about it....

I'm more and more in the habit of fastening my lanyards regardless of speed; seems now to be a very good idea.
