So after the posts on the outerlimits many have given the advise to stick w stock power and minimal "upgrades"
This is a 2001 Playboy w 496 HO's. Just over 200 hours with stock power and Bravos.
What kind of thoughts do you have on this?

Looks nice but is that a re power?Don't think they made a 496 in 01.If you do get take Tres course or run with someone who knows stepped hulls. The Cig twin steps are very aggressive steps you need to trim them properly.Good luck.

01-17-2010 06:00 PMThe skeptic in me says that this particular boat falls into the "too good to be true" catagory. Spend the $$ and get a survey. If it comes back good, buy it and you have purchased a boat to basically use for free for a few years!!

I can't imagine that thing will last long unless the pictures don't tell the whole story....

This seems much more practical! Resale should be easier as well. It's a lot newer than the OL also, which the banks and insurance companies will prefer. Only thing is, this was a salt water boat, a survey is a must!

01-17-2010 07:00 PMHave Raylar hop up those 496's to 525 or 600 HP for 13K per motor.....you could have the fastest 35 Playboy out there!
The other 01/02 Playboy with 500's in Tampa/St Pete has been 99K for YEARS. Boat was taken in on trade for 90K 3 years ago at Passport Marine. That is another one to look at and compare to this one.

01-17-2010 07:05 PMSo who's gonna get their butt over there to look at it for him so he knows whether to make an offer pending survey? One of you guys should have time in the next day or two.....

01-18-2010 11:36 AMWhen passport was still around, the salesman told us "127k is the lowest I can go, that's what I have into it. " We saw the post it was 90k on trade, and while not expecting to pay 95k for the boat, 127k was to much for it, considering the condition.
They way we were treated, and not just the price given, its no wonder passport is gone.

Passport was a scam from the get go, high pricing wasn't their problem it was fraud!
I know the original owner of that 02 boat and they almost bought a new TG but the 370 SS was such a good deal they went in that direction instead (owner is in his 70's hence the cruiser, his 3 sons are in their 40's hence the new TG idea instead!).
Boat has to have 400 hours on it by now (they traded it with about 330, 3 years ago).
