Ive put something together on a set of new motors and they are complete so I wont be robbing anything off of my old 454's. What should I do with them? Are they worth anything at all? One has a cracked starboard exhaust manifold and the other one possibly has a crack in the block. I cant tell though from the angle, but maybe the freezeplug is where the water is coming from.
Should I try to sell them complete or what?

What did you end up buying?
You could just hold'em and rebuild slowly for backups, or to sell?

03-04-2009 09:37 PMThey are worth something. I would spend enough time on them to see if the blocks are cracked.

For the sake of conversation, what would be a range if they are not good but not cracked? And that what if cracked? Scrapyard?

I would investigate the damage as much as possible and disclose everything in an ebay auction.

A cracked manifold is no big deal. I think I have some takeoffs floating around you could have for shipping and a case of beer. They can be brazed if you really want to as well.

03-05-2009 07:23 PMIf it is cracked on the outside or has water jackets cracked I would have to go with fund and say scrapyard and get your moneys worth in weight. Or you could turn it into a coffee table either or.

Well, if they are still good..........
I am poor and you can send them to me so I can have my boat running this year...
Other then that, take them apart and have the blocks tested.
If good then rebuild for next time you need motors.
