    Hi
I am looking for a rebuild instructional manual for a Speedmaster III. I have a place that will check them out for me but as a mechanic and machinist I hate not knowing anything about them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mike

You need alot more than the book. The next one is a very large set of stupidly expensive special tools. Even then, without substantial experience you have a pretty good chance of screwing them up. It's more art than science getting them right. I'm a pretty ballsy SOB when it comes to DIY and I wouldn't consider it.

    But the book is enlightening.

I have a manual that I bought several years ago. I had no intentions of doing my own rebuilds because of the reasons Chris stated, I just wanted to educate myself on them. They came in very useful however when my drive painting project got a little out of hand..

THE Merc shopmanual covers the Speedmaster 2,3,4,5's. It is not cheap. There is a place that sells them for Merc around $ 85 I think.
