has anyone any info. regarding the cary marine line of boats built in the 1970s? I am referring to the twin inboard boats with the 9ft 6 in beam. Do these compare to the magnum 27s of the same era?

you may want to PM Bud Weisner here on the boards; he's a Magnum guy, but probalby knows a fair bit about other boats of that era.
Also check the H.O.R.B.A. website; Charlie is the king of info on that older stuff. Good luck.
Are you sure Cary made a 28 with a 9'6" beam?
Our friend Jeff knows all the Cary guys up here in MI. I'll see what he has....
and Jeff from Oregon doesn't know squat............:p
yes its a sport fish model
Well, interesting boats.
They have a 9'10" beam from everything I've read, 27'8" long. The mold, and the 33 Cary mold, were both sold to Blackfin and became the Blackfin 28 and 33.
They evidently didn't build them for very long.
Heck of a deep vee, some of the pics from the rear on hoists show it to be at least a 24 degree.
Do you have one?
The 28' Cary hulls were the old 28' Donzi Sportsman. Browne built them as Donzi's & @ Cary as a open CC. These were built in Florida, not like the ones built in Michigan. Smallest Michigan Built was a 43' Like my brothers with triple engines with Arneson drives. Here is a 28' Cary thats on Lake St Clair. Back in the 70's there were two 33' Cary's called the WHOPPER that belonged to Kenny Black who raced the Magnum & Mirage Lil Rhino.
thanks. great photos.
The molds went from Donzi, to Cary, to Blackfin?
