Wow. Glad it didn't go over again.
Peter had a problem with the tabs. Sometimes he would tap them and they would go down a notch, sometimes he would tap them and nothing would happen, and sometimes he would tap them and they would go all the way down. As it turns out the rain we all endured before the race and getting swamped coming out of the inlet got the trim pumps and wiring wet causing the tabs to do what ever they wanted to do.
Is that Phantom hull?
i stole it to and posted it

That's one tough boat. Glad it didn't turn into this.:biggrinjester:
I thought I once heard that boat was lengthened.
Buckshot won many, many races. This was the new owner's first race with it.
That boat had the original early 80's hull still. That boat was racing on a yearly basis for over 20yrs. Sutphen put the newer style deck on the boat in the early 90's. Someone not Sutphen altered the structure of the boat. That combined with brutal racing for 20yrs takes a toll on the boat. She was a great Sutphen!!
I have told the story before but its worth retelling.rmal Point water, 3' to 4' sea's and a great day for racing. I was in my boat racing our hearts out trying to play with the big boy's. Back then a Factory 1 was a class 4 boat. I can remember clear as day being along side of it when it came apart. I was with Murray and yelling OMG!!!! It was in the air in 2 pieces about 5' out of the water. You could clearly see it must have busted up on the wave before. It took its last jump in 2 parts and landed with a wall of water. I was glad to see everyone was ok on the next lap. It will forever be a day and sight I will never forget.

I'm sure that someone at Suncoast could give you J. Meric's number. He/she appeared to be the official photographer in Sarasota.

It's hard to tell, but that 'Buckshot' boat looks like a foam core...
Are all Sutphens foam cored? I would assume since that was a race boat, that it was a different lay-up than usual...
