The nav light switch is light blue diamond shaped.
Should be fine.
But if the light stays on for 4 hours or longer, get the boat to the Coast Guard.:)

That's kinda cool - so when the sun goes down, the pole comes up
:blush5:
a little lube always helps......
So what's new? Getting close?
Motor is supposed to be here today. I have all the cover snaps. fuel fill, vents etc, off the hull right now buffing. Also in a catch 22. I took a good look and the wood in the bolsters is shot. So I need to find/build cheap bolsters. This sucks because its gettting a sit down conversion this fall, but that conversion is too much to do right now.
Got the motor today. Looks clean, whoever a couple things are puzzeling me. First, the freeze plugs have been removed/missing and second the front motor mounts are red and the bell housing is red, definitly not mercruiser, volvo??? no coupler either. luckily I have a bellhousing and coupler. Next it had a paper taped to the top that said "this motor hasnt been ran in years, prime oil system first. can that be achieved by pulling the plugs and cranking it over for a few?? and damn, all the fuel injection stuff make the motor BIG.
Jim! Jim! Jim to the white courtesy phone please.
I think to prime you need to pull the dizzy, and there is a tool to slide down there to spin the oil pump.
But, wait til someone with real solid knowledge chimes in.
I know thats one way, but the dist. on this thing looks buried and I would really like to not have to mess with timing.
Mark the distributor and the intake.
Align the marks on each after priming and it will go right back in like it came out.
Use a cordless drill to spin the oil pump.
A tool mimicking the end of the distributor will be what you are after when priming.
I know my Fords used to hex shaped, but I think the oil pump driveshaft's top is slotted on a BBC...I think.
The blade of a long skinny straight blade screwdriver will do the job in a pinch.
Or they make tools that have a bushing and bearing to align everything correctly.
Rolling the motor over defeats the purpose.
You want to pump oil through the galleries and build pressure before rotating the crank and assembly.
Here's one at Summit:

and a shot of how the end of the tools look:
Getting a chance this weekend to test the theory???
new motor, bellhousing and coupler, dropped the motor in tightend her up, hopped out of the boat and the alignment tool slid right in like butter.. happy days!! __________________
